A new school year begins!

We're looking forward to another great year here at University Baptist CDC! We wish all of our friends who are now in kindergarten the best of luck and have enjoyed meeting all of our new friends!

Fruits and Veggies Week was a Success!

Our kids REALLY enjoyed "Eating a Rainbow" last week. On Monday, we enjoyed purple and blue goodies like blackberries, blueberries, and blueberry muffins. We served up green beans, green grapes, and green apple slices,and kiwi on Tuesday. Wednesday brought cauliflower, corn, pears, and everybody's new favorite, FRESH pineapple. The kids really couldn't get enough it! =) Thursday, we enjoyed strawberries, raspberries, mangoes, cherry tomatoes, and sweet bell peppers. The peppers didn't go over so well but the raspberries were a hit! We wrapped up the week on Friday with cantaloupe, mandarin oranges, and sweet potatoes. What a fun and yummy week!

Christmas Break

Christmas Break is upon us! UBCDC will be closed from Thursday, December 23 until December 31. We will re-open on January 3rd.

#1 Pre-K Program in the country

For the fourth consecutive year, Alabama's Voluntary Pre-K program has ranked #1 in the country. UBCDC is proud to celebrate our third year in the program!

Getting Our Education On!

Last month, eight of our teachers began taking college courses with Jefferson State Community College... right here at UBCDC! Through a new offering from Jeff State's Child Development Program, an instructor comes to our center once every two weeks to teach class. Our teachers are currently pursuing their Child Development Associate credential - or CDA - and, at the rate we're going, they will have completed the program by June 2011.

T.E.A.C.H. awarded scholarships to each of our teachers. T.E.A.C.H., a division of the Alabama Department for Children, will pay 80 % of tuition and books for each of our teachers. We are so excited and blessed!

Be sure to congratulate our teachers as they embark on their college careers in an effort to better themselves and what we do here at UBCDC!
