Our Program

Mission

University Baptist Child Development Center is a non-profit ministry of University Baptist Church in Montevallo, Alabama. The University Baptist Church congregation recognized a need in the community for warm, caring, individualized child care services in a Christian atmosphere. UBCDC was established in 1972 as a kindergarten program and now serves children from 6 weeks to 5 years old.

The staff and Advisory Board members are committed to providing the highest quality of care possible. Though Alabama law does not require church-sponsored child care centers to be licensed, UBCDC voluntarily maintain licensing through the Department of Human Resources.

Goals

UBCDC strives to help each child develop a positive self concept, enhance each child's ability to communicate through the expression of ideas and feelings, and encourage the development of each child's spiritual concepts.

Curriculum

Our curriculum provides daily opportunities for children to learn, play, investigate, and express ideas through individual, small group, and large group interactions. We carefully choose age appropriate curriculum to improve children's social, language, emotional, physical, and cognitive development.

Staff Qualifications

Each employee receives additional training throughout the year to stay on top of the newest developments in child care. We provide a number of trainings on site as well as through different community resources including ChildCare Resources. All employees are certified in CPR and First Aid. Each employee is subject to a background check and criminal background check upon employment.

Nutrition

We participate in USDA's Child Nutrition Program. Breakfast, lunch, and and afternoon snack will be served every day. Food allergies and dietary restrictions should be reported upon enrollment.

UBCDC provides Nestle's Good Start Formula and iron-enriched cereal for infants. If preferred, parents can send prepared formula in unbreakable bottles. Each bottle should be labeled, have an upright nipple, and must be covered with a bottle top.
